As we began the Chubsquad's Delta Blues tour on June, 28, 2008, we visited museums in Tunica, Mississippi and legendary Helena, Arkansas. Helena Arkansas includes radio station WFFA the home of the King Buiscut Flower broadcast, the first delta blues recordings broadcasted. We then visited Clarksdale, Mississppi, the home of one of the alleged "Crossroads" , the Delta Blues Museum and Morgan Freeman's blues club Ground Zero. After eating lunch at Ground Zero, we began heading down highway 49 toward Greenwood, Mississppi in search of one of the possible burial sites for Robert Johnson.. As we entered Greenwood proper, we began looking for a chamber of commerce, some kind of museum or a historical landmark that would help us find some information on the location of one of the burial sites. We see a sign for cotton museum and pull over to see if they could help us. Fourtunatly for us, a gentleman was able to us. The gentleman gave us a brochure for the Greenwood African-American Heritage Tour, which showed a picture of a Robert Johnson grave marker. However, it did not give any directions on how to find it. He was able to give us the name of a local Delta Blues hisortian by the name of Stephen LaVere. Mr. LaVere was to be found at the "Blue Parrot" in downtown Greenwood. However, even with directions, we were unable to locate the Blue Parrot. Fortunatly for us, Bear's new cell phone, which could access Google Maps, we were able to locate a map to one of the possible burial sites. According to reference material available, one suposed burial site was located at the Little Zion Church, north of Greenwood. We began heading in the direction indicated by the map and began looking for road signs that would lead us to the church. After a few milles, we spottted a small radio station, WABG 960 kc to our right side. Charlie suggested we to try and pick up the station and as we do, we begin to hear the Lemon Song by Led Zeppelin which includes the lyrics; Squeeze me baby, till the juice runs down my leg. I commented: "there's some Robert Johnson lyrics" and as if from the grave itself, we look to our left, and a small white church with a small cemetary appeares. The sign for the church reads; "Little Zion MB Church". As we all stared stunned, Jeremy brought us to a stop in the middle of the highway. He backed up and we pulled into the small gravel driveway of the church. After a brief search we were able to find the grave marker beneath massive pecan tree. As seen in the picture, several tributes have been left by adoring fans. As we began to leave the cemetary and church area, we have an unxepected visitor....but that's another story.

Great job Dave. I hope you took a breath in there somewhere! I'll be posting a link to pix soon.
A la Kerouac, Dave wrote that in one sitting whilst on speed.
I'm still full from the copious amounts of food consumed on this trip (urp).
Well done, Dave.
