The Incredibles: A Chubby Review

Truly, this is a movie for the Chubsquad.

First of all, Jack Kirby. Especially the island scenes, the tram, and the costumes. The giant robots are a bit more typical pulp fare, but they're still great.

Second, tubby superhero. I mean, it's practically a Chubsquad biopic.

Third, bad guys are bad guys who are willing to kill children--very post 9/11. Good guys never waiver from their principles--Mr. Incredible is a REAL hero.

Holly Hunter as Elastigirl. This is without a doubt some of the best casting in Hollywood and some of the best acting she's ever done. When she's serious, you'd better watch out. Plus, there's a hilarious, scary scene where her power gets her into trouble.

The realistic family dynamic and Mr. Incredible being completely comfortable with his super strenght are nice compliments. Finally--THE ERA! Awesome 60s-style compacts and crowd scenes were almost all the men wear hats.

If you haven't seen it, don't miss it. I can't wait for the DVD with all the trailers and original TV spots.
