Goodbye Dr. Thompson

Johnny Depp had paid to have a 150 foot cannon erected on Dr. Thompson's property festooned with his signature gonzo double thumbed fist holding a peyote button in the palm manufactured of a red plastic the size of a common two-story single family home.

Just after sunset on 8/20/05 the spotlights played across the clouds of the overcast night sky and with little fanfare a volley of red and blue sky bombs preceded the launch of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson's ashes by a 40 pound round that rose above the property in Woody Creek, Colorado to a height of about 300 feet before it spread its cargo of the Dr's remains over the acres of his Owl Farm in a blaze of white light and echoing reports heard for miles.
